Halloween Fun!

Halloween was great!  We had a lot of fun dressing up and spending time with our friends at the annual Park Slope parade.

Beck was a fireman or "fire engine boy" which is what he sometimes told people when they asked what he was going to be for Halloween (where does he get this stuff?!)  Beck really wanted a hose to go along with his costume and he talked about it for weeks.  Super Dad figured out a way to give him a hose which made his costume complete.

Here's Beck putting out a pumpkin fire.

Beck & Tay ready for the trick or treating to begin!

Since it's usually cold enough (for me anyway) by Halloween that my costume is covered by a big coat, I decided on a costume with a fun wig.  Although this year it was warm enough that all I needed was a sweater!

Like Father Like Son

I can't believe October is almost over and Halloween is this week!

I was going through my pictures and came across a few of Beck covering his ears because of the noise around him.  It just made me laugh and I had to share a few.  He truly is his father's son.  Gregor has always been on the sensitive side when it comes to noise, although he doesn't actually cover his ears (that I know of anyway :->) and it looks like Beck has inherited that same sensitivity.  Beck even complains when he hears the neighbors - "neighbors too loud."  These poor boys are sure living in the wrong city - I'm not that sensitive to all the sounds of the city, but I do get tired of it from time to time.  That's when I know it's time for a vacation!

Silly boys!

Preparing for the train's arrival - which is pretty darn loud

Block Party 2008

When we moved into our building almost a year ago, all we heard about was how great the block parties were on our street. Since block parties in our neighborhood only happen once a year, we had to wait quite awhile to see how great it was for ourselves.  Well, the block party was a couple of weeks ago, and I have to say it was one fantastic party that went on all day & late into the night!

Typical block parties in Park Slope involve the street being blocked off from traffic and parking, the kids ride their bikes or scooters in the street and some families have stoop sales (a version of a yard sale or garage sale, but since most people don't have either front yards or garages they're called stoop sales).  Well, people on our block went above and beyond in planning the activities for our party.

Not only did the kids get to ride bikes and scooters, but there were also two jumpy air castle things - one for the little kids and one for older kids.  There was face painting, art activities and games to play throughout the day.  We also got to enjoy free snow cones, cotton candy, hot dogs and ice cream (not all at once of course!)  A fire truck and police car came for the kids to climb in and check out which was so much fun for Beck! That night they had a DJ playing music and everyone was dancing.  Our neighbors had friends and family over and enjoyed their dinner outside near the action.  It was so much fun for everyone!
As you can see Beck didn't sit still for too long for the face painting, so he ended up with just an outline.

Taylor's was colorful!

Taylor had a great time playing games with the neighborhood kids.

Happy Birthday Grandma Ali!

Today is Grandma Ali's birthday! We hope she had a VERY special day!  Beck loves spending time at Grandma & Grandpa's house - they always have so many fun toys to play with, and he loves to snuggle up with Grandma too!  Beck was very excited to call and sing Grandma the Happy Birthday song today, and we are looking forward to seeing Grandma next month!
